Houndstooth Wedding Invitations

Ordering wedding invitations can be both fun and stressful. It's an exciting time for you and you're ready to start spreading the news. Let's begin with when your wedding is going to take place. Are you a year out? 6 months? Consider sending a Photo Save the Date Card such as this Alabama Football Ticket Save the Date.

Alabama Save the Date

Save the date cards should represent who you are as a couple as well as individually. This couple shown above love Alabama Football. They contacted me 6 months before their wedding and asked me to design a Football Ticket Save the Date. These are sized 2 by 5.5 just like a regular SEC season football ticket.

Before you order your Save the Date cards, please prepare your guest list. It is important that you nail it down as soon as you can. This will allow you to begin ordering Save the Date cards, Wedding Invitations, party favors, etc.  Ordering too many or too few can be a very costly mistake. 

After these Save the Dates were completed, we began work on her wedding invitations. Wedding invitations should be sent 6 weeks before the wedding. However, don't wait until 8 weeks out to order. Begin talking to an artist 4 months in advance. This gives you and the artist approximately 1-2 months to work together on the design. If you have found a template online you're satisfied with and prefer that to working with an artist, order the invitations 3 months in advance. This Alabama fan wanted her wedding invitations to be funky, modern and have clear text that made sure every attendee knew family was welcome. These requests are very specific and not something a template would offer so she chose to work with an artist at Belle Announcements. This is the wedding invitation she and Liv designed.

It is important that you review all your options. You can shop templates on a wide variety of stores but you can't request changes to those templates. You see an online proof and then it prints. Proofing is much easier and more likely to catch errors if you have a printed version in front of you. Even a low quality proof that is emailed to you is better than proofing on a screen. Have several pairs of eyes that were not involved in the text to review it for errors.
